Review: ELF Luscious Liquid Lipstick

Top - Bottom:
Perfect Pink, Baby Lips, Natural Blush

Natural Blush was from Drugstore.com, apparently this shade was from when it was still called "Moisture-Care Lip color"

Swatches:
Natural Blush,
Perfect Pink, Baby Lips

Natural Blush looks kinda purple here... but it's more of a dull mauve shade. Perfect Pink is literally, a perfectly bright pink shade. Baby Lips is a soft, baby pink shade.

Price: $1 from eyeslipsface.com or $1.49 from drugstore.com

What they say: True color therapy is here. Intensive hydrating agents along with natural pigments leave lips with long-lasting color and moisture. This luscious liquid lipstick creates wearable color that flatters a multitude of skin tones and looks.

What to do: To activate twist pen 10-20 times or until color is seen. Layer on color. Reapply anytime.

What's in it: Paraffinum Liquidum, Polybutene, Silica, Synthetic Beeswax, Fragrance, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Iron Oxides(CI 77499), Red No. 7 Calcium Lake(CI 15850:1), Red No. 6 Barium Lake(CI 15850:2), Blue No.1 Aluminum Lake(CI 42090:2), Red No.40 Aluminum Lake(CI 16035), Red No.27 Aluminum Lake(CI 45410:2).

The good stuff:

  • Cheap
  • Lots of colors to choose from
  • Pigmentation is decent... varies
  • Texture is smooth / slightly thick
  • Somewhat sticky but feels moisturizing
  • Did not dry out my lips

The low-down:

  • Scent is not great... but not intolerable either
  • Takes wayyy more than 10-20 twists to activate
  • There's actually not very much product
  • Gets messy
My take: I had no intention of liking these when I first bought one (Natural Blush), but I actually did come to like them! The main reason being because of the texture... it's on the thick/sticky side, but it does feel moisturizing and applies really smoothly. So I use this product mostly at night like a lip "treatment" to keep my lips moisturized and smooth. Since I don't wear it during the day I can't really attest to its lasting power... but it has mostly absorbed by morning, so I'd say it's probably at least a few hours.

Perfect Pink, Baby Lips, Natural Blush

The pigmentation is decent. What you'd expect for $1. Natural Blush is the most pigmented and shows up on my lips really well. But sadly, the color is just not the right shade for me. It makes me look dead. Perfect Pink is really pink, but it just tints my lips so they look reddish. I think it would look nicer on less pigmented lips. Baby Lips looks pretty in the tube, but basically shows up clear on my lips, even after several layers. However, it layers really well over other lippies. All of these shades have a shiny finish.

The only downsides are that it takes a lot more than 10-20 clicks to get the product flowing, and then you realize how little product you actually have in the tube. But since it's only $1, I can't really complain. Also, the "vanilla mint" scent might be bothersome to some people. For me, it's not that bad but I think they could do better... Other than that, the cap does get a little messy on the inside, but nothing too yucky.

Would I repurchase/recommend: Overall, I think that this is a decent product... not the greatest pigmentation but I like how it feels on my lips. So yes, I personally would repurchase (I still want to try Raspberry, Strawberry, and Pink Lemonade). I would recommend them just because they are so cheap. Even if you don't like the way it looks on your lips, I think it makes for a nice overnight lip "treatment."

Review: Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color

L-R: Pink Suga, Just Peachy

Swatches:

Pink Suga

Just Peachy

Price: I got mine for around $3.69 I think. Online I've seen it for $2.69.

What they say: Lips take center stage! This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed.

What's in it: Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips. [didn't find a full ingredients list]

The good stuff:
  • Inexpensive
  • Good size to stash in your purse
  • Pigmentation is FABULOUS!
  • Goes on smoothly when lips are prepped w/ lip balm
  • Did not dry out my lips
  • Long lasting

The low-down:

  • Packaging is kinda flimsy
  • A bit dry on its own
My take: These lipsticks are AWESOME! Inexpensive and the pigmentation is AHHHMAZING. But first, some negatives. While the packaging is cute and slim -- good for stashing in your purse -- the casing is a bit flimsy. I think even ELF does a better job with their packaging and their products are cheaper! My tube of Just Peachy must have been put together crappily because the stick fell out after one use. So I had to smush it back in as gently as possible. It works and twists up and all, but it's still wobbly. Oh well.

Other than that, these lipsticks are great. They have a semi-matte finish... the color you get is perfectly opaque, and has a hint of shine to it. They are a little too dry for my tastes when applied on their own, so I prep my lips first with EOS lip balm and they smooth on easily and DO NOT dry out my lips. That way, the color also starts off sheer so you can build it to the intensity you want.

Pink Suga is an orangey-nude color. Reminds me a lot of NYX Orange Soda, but a little more orange-y. Just Peachy is a pretty peachy pink (more peachy IRL). Lasting power is certainly at least 4 hours like they claim, even more if you're not eating/drinking. Looks great on its own or layered with lipgloss.

Would I repurchase/recommend?: Yes, I want to get more shades! I am totally surprised and satisified with these lipsticks. I also would recommend them to anyone looking for an inexpensive, long lasting, intensely pigmented lipstick!

Review: Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner

How it looks on my eyes:
So intensely pigmented!

Price: I got mine from K-Mart for $5.64 or so... online I've seen it from around $2-6.

What they say:

What's in it: Isododecane, Cyclopentasiloxane, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Polyethylene, Polysilicone-6, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Lecithin, Methylparaben, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, Butylphenyl, Methylpropional, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxycitronellal, Linalool, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Coumarin. [(May Contain): Mica, Black 2/CI 77266, Blue 1 Lake/CI 42090, Carmine/CI 75470, Ferric Ferrocyanide/CI 77510, Iron Oxides/CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499, Titanium Dioxide/CI 77891, Ultramarines/CI 77007].

The good stuff:
  • Inexpensive
  • Nice packaging
  • Comes with a mini angled eyeliner brush
  • Intensely pigmented
  • Applies super smoothly
  • Lasting power is phenomenal!
  • Fading/smudging/smearing is virtually non-existent!

The low-down:

  • The eyeliner brush was a little bulky for me
  • A bit hard to remove

My take: THIS PRODUCT IS A GEM. I have been waiting so long to get my hands on it! I mentioned this before, but nowhere on my side of the island sells Wet N Wild anymore. How whack is that?! So the only place I know of to get any is on the other side of the island -_-; But I go there pretty often so it's not that bad. Anywho, I'm thrilled that I finally have this eyeliner!!!

I've been wanting to try creme/gel liners for awhile now, but I was always skeptical of the ease of application and staying power. However, I am glad to report that this eyeliner is THE SHIT. I have it in Black, and I managed to nab the last one that K-Mart had in stock. So I'm guessing that all the hype about this product must be justified -- there were like 346571615 "Eggplant" ones, but only ONE more black one!

The jar is cute, a little big for the amount of product inside, but still cute. It also comes with a mini angled eyeliner brush, but honestly, I found it to be a little too bulky to use on my eyes. No biggie, I use my Sephora angled eyeliner brush and it's all G. I thought it would be kind of difficult to apply creme eyeliner for some reason, but I actually didn't have a hard time at all. It goes on super smooth, no pulling or tugging. The pigmentation is AWESOME. Even a little bit can get you a solid black line.

Swatches:

Like I mentioned, lasting power is PHENOMENAL. I have not yet come across an eyeliner that lasts on me all day. Until now. This liner stays put and doesn't budge on my lashline AND waterline, all day! It does smudge a teeny bit on the outer corner of my eyes after a few hours, but I have yet to find an eyeliner that doesn't, so it's no biggie. The main thing is that it stays on my waterline! This liner has currently replaced my old HG Rimmel Exaggerate (which I now only use for tightlining).

After ONE swipe of makeup remover cloth = WOW?!

After vigorous scrubbing = HOLY CRAP?!

Because the staying power is so great, it does take awhile to remove this liner (check out the pics above!) I use my staple Epielle wipes to remove all my makeup, and they do the job on this liner too. I just use a "press, hold, wipe, repeat" method until it all comes off.

Would I repurchase/recommend?: Yes, I would definitely repurchase this product, but since such a little goes a long way, I don't see myself needing to repurchase for a long time. I also would highly recommend this product to those who are new to creme liners like me and want to try something out that isn't gonna kill your wallet AND works great!

EOTD/FOTD Feat. Rimmel Eye Glam e/s: Smoky Charcoal-Brown + a Pop of Teal!

Hello loves! Just wanted to share a look I did the other day. I wanted to test out the Rimmel Glam Eyes eyeshadows I recently posted about. Sadly, they are a lot more powdery and not as intensely pigmented on my eyes VS when I swatched them on my hand :( They are still decent though. Not the worst I've tried, and they were inexpensive so I can't complaing TOO much :P

I also decided to pull out my Sephora Collector's Edition Palette, since I haven't got to play around with it much yet. So I decided to go simple and add a pop of color below my lashline, to match my shirt : ) I have to say I am really happy with this palette. The shadows are a lot more pigmented and smooth than my Sephora Color Play Palette, which after awhile has lost its pigmentation and turned chalky. I hope that doesn't happen with this palette!

Collective Circle Lens Reviews

Hello loves! I was inspired to do this collective review post of all the circle lenses I own, by the lovely miss Sophia! She was so nice to mention that she thinks I do *the best circle lens reviews* Aww! ^.^ So I decided to do this post for anyone who happens to be searching my blog for reviews on circle lenses -- now they're all in once place! I'll add to this review listing as I get more lenses.

Note: since I pretty much always wear glasses, I buy my lenses plano (00 power). Whenever I decide to get my updated contact lens perscription, I think I'll try getting some new ones. However, I also actually don't wear regular perscription lenses anymore because every one I've tried has irritated my eyes. Surprisingly, I've had minimal trouble/discomfort with non-perscribed circle lenses! But of course, please buy circle lenses at your own discretion!

GEO ANGELS
Geo Angel Brown & Geo Angel Green

Where I got mine: Browns from Phyllis of Makeupforlife.net (Idk if she still does batch orders), Greens from Twinklelens.com

Color: The color does not show up very much in natural light... basically shows up "dark" on my eyes. You do get nice hints of color in different lighting, and great color in flash photos though (like in the pictures to the left)

Comfort: These are the most comfortable circle lenses I've tried so far. I've worn them all day (11+ hours) a few times. I had virtually no irritation other than the eventual dryness.

Enlargement: These will give you dolly eyes! The pupil hole is large, and the black limbal ring is thick. They are noticeably not "natural" but still cute.

Overall: Color looks great in photos, comfortable, dolly-eye look, noticeable but not freaky.

GEO ASH WINGS

Where I got mine: Mesmerized Eyes (they closed)

Color: I had originally got these in hopes that the color would show up well. However, they are similar to the Angels in that they just show up "dark" on my eyes, but the color does show up nicely at certain angles and in certain lighting, especially in photos (flash OR no flash -- like the picture to the left).

Comfort: These are only slightly less comfortable than the Angels. I did feel that they got "drier" a little faster, but other than that, they were fine.

Enlargement: These offer slightly less enlargement than the Angels. The pupil hole is smaller, and the limbal ring is broken into slash patterns, instead of solid black like the Angels. In that sense, I do think that they show up a bit more "natural" looking than the Angels.

Overall: Color looks great in photos, comfortable, more "natural" looking, beautiful color at certain angles.

GEO TWINS
Geo Honey Twins & Geo Green Twins

Where I got mine: Geoeyecandy.blogspot.com

Color: The color shows up insanely well. If you want extremely vibrant, bold color, go for these! Good for cosplay, I'd think. They actually border on beaing a little freaky looking on me IMO... :/ They are very obviously unnatural on me.

Comfort: These are the least comfortable circle lenses I own. They move around a lot and I usually can see halos of color when I wear these. I cannot wear them for very long because they just get too uncomfortable :(

Enlargement: These do not offer much enlargment. The limbal ring is slightly broken up (not solid like the Angels), and very thin. The pupil hole is A LOT smaller than the Angels & Wings, I'd say its around "normal" pupil size. Thus it does not give a dolly-eye look... it's more "natural-looking" than the Angels & Wings in regards to size, but it is obviously unnatural in regards to color.

Overall: Color shows up extremely well, not comfortable, natural size but NOT natural color, good for cosplay or if you want that really vibrant eye look.

Walmart + Kona hauls & swatches! (pic heavy)

Hello loves! I wanted to share 2 sets of hauls I recently made. First up is from last week; Walmart. I had really been wanting to try out the L'Oreal Go 360 Clean because the "scrublet" is just too cute! The pink and green versions had menthol in them though, so I opted for the orange (exfoliating) one. I want to try the blue (sensitive skin) one next.

I also got a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss in "Life's a Peach" and an NYC Lip Sliders Tinted Lip Balm in "Sugar Coated." I had been wanting to try that one out for awhile. According to Holly Ann-AeRee, it is a dupe for MAC's BoyBait Cremesheen!

I also got a little soap saver + scrubber pouch for like 2 bucks. So I got a pink one for myself and a lime green one for the Mister : )

I am liking this cleanser a lot so far. No skin irritation. The scrublet is fun to use!

Here's a swatch of the Revlon lipgloss. It is "super lustrous!" Very glossy and shiny. The pigmentation is a little weak by itself but it's nice for layering. The color is peachy (of course) with slight shimmer (doesn't really show up). The texture is smooth, not quite sticky; comfy on the lips, but your hair will get stuck in it if it's windy.

Sorry no swatches of the NYC lip slider... I will be swatching in an upcoming review! I do want to note that I cannot, for the life of me, get it to apply in a smooth, even layer :/ I've tried using my finger and a lip brush, but still ends up uneven. So I've just been using it at night. It's thick and smooth and slightly tacky but feels moisturizing.

I forgot to mention I was going to Kona this weekend. So of course, I had to get some shopping in! I went to Target and K-Mart and this is what I ended up with. I'm pretty satisfied because I've been getting to check a few things off my wishlist!

From Target:

Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in "Pink Please"

I have been waiting soooo long to get this lipstick, it's not even funny. Every single time I went out looking for it, it's either not in stock, or there's like 2 of them and both of them are smashed. I'm talking like the past 5 times I've been looking for this lipstick, I've had no luck! So I was super happy to find it at Target. There were TWO and one of them was smashed. So I was silently begging that the second one would be fine... and it was! YAY!

It's a nice wearable shade of baby pink on me. The texture is super smooth and creamy. Starts out sheer but is easily buildable. However... I should say the finish seemed a lot more glossy on my hand than on my lips IRL... weird :/ It's still pretty though, I just add a coat of sheer gloss over it : )

(sorry for the blurry pic)

StudioTools Large Foundation Brush

I was in need of another foundation brush, and this was decently priced. I think I've heard a few good things about StudioTools so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was a little more flexible than I thought it would be, but I think I will use this one solely for liquid foundations (I have a Kirkland foundation brush that I use only for powder). It's pretty soft, but not the softest I've ever felt. I want an EcoTools one next!

Rimmel Glam Eyes Mono Eyeshadow in "Spicy Bronze" and "Night Jewel"

Only $2.99 and they had a $1 off coupon! These shadows are pretty smooth and nicely pigmented. For the price, they are good. Spicy Bronze (metallic / shimmery dark bronze) is a lot smoother and more pigmented than Night Jewel (very slightly shimmery dark charcoal gray), which took a few swipes to get the color to show up well.

I also got an organizer for more makeup storage! It can perfectly fit brushes, lipstick, blush, etc. Now I just need to figure out where to put it in my cluttered room :P

From K-Mart:

Since our Long's decided to be crappy and not carry Wet N Wild anymore, and our Walmart doesn't have it; now I have to go all the way to the other side of the island to get WnW! -__-;

Wet N Wild Color Icon Blusher in "Pearlescent Pink"

Fell in love with the color. When swatched, it looks a whole lot darker and more red though! Weird :/ But on cheeks, it gives a nice pinky flush. Very pigmented! It's also quite powdery/messy though. Nowhere near as powdery as ELF's Natural Radiance Blusher, but still pretty powdery. No biggie though because the pigmentation is so great and the texture is smooth!

"Pearlescent Pink" on cheeks & Maybelline's "Pink Please" on lips.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Powder Blush in "Autumn Catwalk" and "Winter Glow"

Autumn Catwalk

Winter Glow

Shades mixed.
L-R: Autum Catwalk, Winter Glow.

What can I say about these? They are AWESOME. Extremely pigmented (all swatches are one swipe!), not TOO powdery, very smooth, AND long lasting. I got to check these off my wishlist! Autumn Catwalk mixes to a cool-toned darkish pink, and Winter Glow mixes to a nice peachy pink. Both have one color strip that is shimmery, so you get a nice subtle shimmer-sheen when you mix them all together. Next I'm going to get Pink Sorbet! For around $5, these are worth it. If you like extremely pigmented, multi-purpose, AND affordable blushes; I would HIGHLY recommend these!

Wet N Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner - Black

I had been waiting a really long time to try this out! I'm so glad I found it, even though it's so far away to get it -_-; I actually nabbed the last black one they had in stock!

I must say, the hype is justified with this product. It's extremely pigmented. Look how dark it is with one swipe! Super super smooth, DOES NOT BUDGE on my lashline, and actually lasts on my waterline! It does smudge on the outer corner of my eyes.. but I have yet to find an eyeliner that DOESN'T, so this one is pretty awesome just for staying on my waterline. The little brush it came with is cute and functional, but a little bulky for my eyes. So I use my Sephora bent eyeliner brush instead, and it applies just as well.

Wet N Wild Mega Last Lip Color in "Pink Suga" and "Just Peachy"

Was super excited to try these after reading Serenie's review! They are semi-matte but have a slight sheen to them. They are slightly drying on their own, so I apply lip balm first so they go on smoothly. Pigmentation is utterly AHHHMAZING. Covers up my pigmented lips with no problem! Pink Suga looks similar to NYX Orange Soda on me, but slightly more "orangey." It's also a perfect nude shade for me. Just Peachy is natural peachy pink (slightly more peachy IRL). Love these! Would highly recommend them if you have pigmented lips and want something that will show up really well!

Needless to say, LOTS of reviews will be coming up (;
Just thought I'd close with some shots I took while I was in Kona... enjoy! : )
