NOTD: Revlon Whimsical over Hard Candy Sky

My sister from another mister Serenie gifted me with Revlon Whimiscal polish! It looks so pretty and cute in the bottle but it's very VERY sheer and the glitter comes out really sparse so it requires a few coats to get a nice distribution of glitter.

Whimsical is made up of a super sheer milky blue base with pink and blue chunky hexagonal glitters and blue microglitter. I layered it over Hard Candy's Sky which is a pretty pale baby blue with very fine shimmer. I love baby pink/blue combos so I think it came out pretty cute with some added deco :)

On another note, I need new topcoat! Definitely going to pick up a bottle of Seche Vite. The topcoat I have now has a lot of bubbles :(

NOTD/Swatches: NYX Carnival & Milani Gems - Deborah Lippmann Happy Birthday Dupes

I don't have Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday myself to compare, but here's some swatches of Milani Gems and NYX Carnival! They look almost identical to me, although it seems like Milani Gems has more small blue and silver glitters. Also it dries to a glossier finish while NYX Carnival is slightly duller.

Overall, I love both of these polishes!

Review: BlingUp.net Japanese 3D Nails -- Tri-Color Nail Tip with Pearl White Flower Nail Art and Austrian Crystals [Set 2 of 4]

To recap from my original overview of Blingup.net nails:

BLINGUP.NET 3D NAIL ART!

Blingup.net specializes in 100% custom, handmade 3D japanese style nails. They make the nails specifically to your nail measurements to ensure a perfect fit. I also asked if the length of my nails could be shortened a bit. They came out PERFECT! Blingup.net's customer service is also FANTASTIC. Extremely quick and friendly replies to all of my questions and concerns :)

The nails are SO gorgeous; extremely detailed and intricate, but also very durable! The deco pieces do NOT fall off, even after 1+ weeks of wear.

You also get:

  • One free 3g nail glue each order (10g nail glue with brush if your order more than 4 nail sets).

  • 10 pieces of Professional double-sided nail tape for each nail set.

  • Nail file (360Grit for filing nail surface and for sharpening of the nail)

  • Repair package (in the event gems, crystals or nail art fall off)

Here are the Tri-Color Nail Tip with Pearl White Flower Nail Art and Austrian Crystals nails.

From Blingup.net:
This nail set features various colors on each nail tip with a pearl white 3d flower nail art and genuine Austrian crystals. The detail continues with glitter and beads all throughout the nail art with a cluster of gold metal beads at the center of each flower.

These nails have a "summery" feel to me, and I especially love the detailing on the thumb and all the deco flowers. This is a more light and girly design, perfect for say, a wedding or some kind of special occasion :)

Also, like I mentioned in my first review:

These nails are rather long in length. So if you're not used to long nails, they take some getting used to! After I got used to them though, I had no problems typing, opening things, etc. And, make sure to use a good amount of glue! Use a thick, even coat, and the nails should not pop off for at least a week. None of the decorations fell off either, but since the nails come with replacement gems and such, you can easily replace gems if they fall off.

The Rundown:
Packaging:
5/5
Super cute packaging! Perfect for storing.

Product: 5/5
Amazing detail and quality. 100% Handmade to YOUR specifications!

Price: 4/5
These nails quite pricey if you're trying to stick to beauty on a budget, but you get what you pay for, and you're paying for the highest quality!

NOTD: Winter Party Nails [Glitter Tips]

Hey everyone! Semi-random NOTD title today :)

I did some simple glitter-tipped nails using NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel in 105A Starry Silver Glitter and topped it off with NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel 271 Extra Shiny Top Coat. I built up several layers of the glitter polish so that I could get an even distribution of the larger circle glitters. I also did 2-3 layers of top coat so it would be extra-extra shiny.

The glitters reminded me of... party confetti. But the colors reminded me of winter time. So there you go -- Winter Party nails! ^.^ I like doing glitter french tip-esque nails because it's so easy and you don't need a crisp, defined line like with traditional french tips. It's a fun twist on a classic :)

NOTD: Water Marbling Attempt #2 + More Nail Art Tips!

Hello loves! So here is my 2nd attempt at water marbling, which I think turned out much better. Like I mentioned yesterday, I used the Pure Ice pearl white colored polish as a base. Then for the marbling, I used China Glaze It's Poppin' and OPI Oh So Glam! Then I threw on some Konad nail stickers.

Left hand:

Right hand:

I got a few questions if I got polish all over my fingers while dipping, or if I taped my fingers.

I was actually too lazy (lol wtf, I know!) to find tape to tape my fingers. So I did get polish all over my fingers :P But I want to share my fav nail tip: Paint your nails messily. Get polish onto your cuticles. Don't worry about it! What I do after is soak my hands in hot water or take a hot shower after I do my nails. Then the polish peels right off! It's a little time consuming to peel it off but less tedious than using nail polish remover or taking forever trying to paint your nails perfectly!

But... I would suggest you tape your fingers or rub vaseline around your nails because then you can peel the tape off or wipe the vaseline right off so you won't get polish all over your fingers : )

NOTD: Water Marbling Attempt #1 + Walmart Clothes/Polish Haul

Hello loves! Last night I was watching tutorials on youtube by SimpleLittlePleasures and was totally enamored with all of her water marble designs. I haven't tried this nail art technique yet, so I decided to give it a go... at 3am wtf! Lol. I tried a bunch of different patterns and dipping angles.. so each of my nails is different.

I used China Glaze Limonyte, OPI Oh So Glam!, and China Glaze It's Poppin
Right hand:

For those who are not familiar with the water marble technique, you need a small container with water, and then you drop polish into it. The polish spreads across the surface of the water, and you continue adding drops to create a "bullseye." When you have all the colors you want, you take an orange stick (I didn't have one so I used a bamboo skewer) and then gently draw designs in the polish. Then you dip your nail into the polish/water and voila! You get a pretty "marbled" design on your nails.
Water marbling is VERY trial and error. SimpleLittlePleasures recommends filtered, room temperature water. I used bottled water and it seemed to work okay. Also, finding polishes that marble well was a challenge. Limonyte barely spread out at all; it was too thick. It's Poppin spread out really well and showed up really bold. Oh So Glam! spread out really easily but was VERY sheer. I have not tried all my polishes with water marbling yet; but thick polishes are a no-go and so are sheer, shimmery polishes. If it takes more than 2 coats to be opaque on your nails; it will not work well with water marbling.
My right thumb was my fav :P

Left hand:
Turned out rather crappy :P Do not pull your finger out of the water too quickly and make sure to pick up the excess polish off the surface of the water with your orange stick/tool before taking your finger out of the water or else your design will smear (thumb). Also, don't try to double dip unless you have lots of empty space on your nail! I ruined my pinky by trying to do another layer.

I have since re-done my nails with another (better ;P) water marble design... which I will post tomorrow : )

Have you tried water marbling?

I also hit up Walmart again since I was looking for more polishes to use with water marbling. I picked up some Pure Ice polishes for $2... pretty colors. Unfortunately, the purple and blue shades were too sheer/shimmery for water marbling. Gorgeous and great for a regular mani though! I used the pearl white polish as a base shade for my second water marble design and it worked well though!

And OMG. I found the bow top in PINK!!!!SOOOO HAPPPY!!! ^___^ If you like cute bows, I suggest you search your Walmart for these tops! They're only $9!

I also got a loose-fitting tunic-y top with a gorgeous crochet back for only $12! I've mentioned this a couple times but I LOVE LOVE LOVE crochet/lace back tops. Ignore the tag/bra straps lol.

Yes, I have no ass... lulz XD

Found any good deals at Walmart lately?

NOTD: Tiffany Box Blue & Bows + $1 Chanel Jade dupe?

Hello loves! Today I wanted to share what I'm currently sporting on my nails:

Tiffany box inspired!

I used ELF Mint Cream & NYC French Tip White to do the bows.

I learned how to make the bows from this tutorial:

But my white polish was kind of on the "liquidy" side, so it didn't really stay tacky long enough to drag it cleanly. Still think it turned out alright for first attempt though : )

This design is super easy and super cute. Definitely check out Narita's vid and try it out!

Also, after reading Agnes' post about possible Chanel Jade dupes, I was thinking that ELF's Mint Cream looked pretty close.

So... is it?

Here's Chanel Jade:
(image from google search)

While I don't own Chanel Jade, I can look at pictures :P So comparing it to my NOTD with ELF's Mint Cream, I'd have to say this is pretty much the closest darn dupe you are gonna get for a dollar. Chanel Jade is greener and more true "jade," while ELF Mint Cream is bluer and of course, closer to a Tiffany Blue shade and doesn't have shimmers. However, they both seem to be around the same level of "pastelness."

So while you probably won't feel as luxurious having ELF Mint Cream on your nails, it's still a fun shade to wear that is decently similar to Chanel Jade, especially since it's only $1!

NOTD: NYC East Village and French Tip White

Hello loves! Just here to share two NOTDs, both featuring NYC polishes.

NYC Color In A Minute - East Village

A metallic/shimmery blue (it has a pretty green tinge IRL).

Unfortunately, this is THE SHEEREST nail polish I own. It took 4-5 coats to get it this opaque. I suppose it does dry decently fast, but the only downside is that it gets a lot of air bubbles. I also noticed this with another one of my NYC polishes. But overall, since it's less than $2, it's a nice polish.

NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel - French Tip White

(layered over with Ulta Super Sheer Nail Gloss in "Princess," to create a soft gradient-french manicure effect)

It is a really nice, bright, white. This is 3 coats. It goes on smoothly and slightly thick, but it didn't give me too much problems while applying. Dries decently fast as well.

NOTD - ELF Mint Cream & Desert Haze

Here's some NOTDs featuring two new ELF nail polish shades; Mint Cream and Desert Haze!

Mint Cream is absolutely lovely. A very Tiffany Blue-esque cream : )
Application is smooth without getting goopy. Dries quickly.
The finish is nice and glossy.
This is 3 coats. Love it!

(I hope no one is freaked out by feet lol, I just thought this color would look nice on my toes XD)

This is Desert Haze. It's a little lighter IRL. Kind of a lightish taupe color.
Sadly, in my opinion, it is not a very flattering color on my nails :(
It kind of melts in with my skintone.
Wish it was lighter.

Application is also smooth, but gets a little thick after 3 coats.
Didn't dry as fast as Mint Cream, but the finish is still nice and glossy.
This is 3 coats.

I didn't really want to remove Desert Haze and start all over again with a different color, so, what do I always do to spice up an "ugly" polish? Why, add some glitter & shimmer, of course! : )

Went over with 2 coats of Bon Bon green glitter polish. It did give an extremely slight greenish tint to my nails, but the glitter is what stands out.

Uhh, it actually looks a lot better IRL :P The glitter is so pretty and reflects all different colors. It really added some interest and dimension to Desert Haze, so it stands out against my skintone. Very pretty in sunlight ♥

Can't wait to try out Lilac and Smoky Brown!
