My mom got me this for Christmas too. It's a makeup palette from Ross, of all places! I was not expecting department store quality, but surprisingly, it is quite comparable to my Sephora Color Play Palette -- infact, even better in some ways!
Pink faux alligator/crocodile skin? Lol
Opens like a book -- 2 sided
Left side has 4 e/s, 2 rows of lippies, 1 row blush, 1 row bronzer.
Right side has 10 rows of eyeshadows.
I'll swatch the eyeshadows first.
First, the downside is that the shadows are on the powdery side and very soft textured. Also, ALL of the shadows are pearl/shimmer finish. No matte. The upside is that MANY of the shades (moreso the darker ones) are beautifully pigmented!
I esepcially like Rows 7, 8, 9, and 10. But that's just because I like brown/golds.
Rows 2, 3, and 5 are really nicely pigmented too.
Here's the other side.
These are not as pigmented as the other shadows. Better for highlighting.
The blushes are super pretty, but a bit too "dolly" for me. The middle two are more shimmery and the top and bottom are more matte. My favorite is the top shade... it's a pretty peachy-coral.
I'm not sure if this is all supposed to be bronzer... the first shade is really light and the second shade blends right into my skin. Suppose that would be better for lighter skin. The last two are a lot darker and good for contouring. They are all matte shades.
Here's the lippies.
Lip palettes kinda disgust me and I never use them, and this is no exception.
Too bad, because some of the shades are really pretty! Yeah, I forgot to add that one shade in the Row 2 picture; in Row 1. Oops.
Overall I really like this palette for the eyeshadows! A lot of them are better pigmented than those in my Sephora Color Play Palette. It's nice to have for the pretty pearl/shimmer and you can create a lot of looks with this. The bronzers are really nice and smooth too.
Just goes to show you don't always gotta pay an arm & a leg for good quality!

<3

ReplyDeletethis is so beautiful
ReplyDeleteNice Swatches. I have this Palette Too, I agree the e/s can be a bit powdery, but very pigmented.

<3Clara
Very nice palette! Pigmented and not too expensive ! My favorite is row 10 of the shadows! I hate paying a lot of money for makeup too. 2:
ReplyDeleteWow - I see those palettes all the time at Ross but never cared much for them. Row 4 has some lovely purples! Def. a good buy.
ReplyDeletethis looks like a nice palette.. so many colours to play with! thanks for the swatches :D swatching is hard work haha! :) xx
ReplyDeleteOOOOOOOOOOOOH! Thank you for posting this! I got this palette as a gift too! I haven't opened it at all. Ionno, I guess I got a little hesitant about it. but hey! you proved that its a keeper!

wow this is a really awesome palette with great payoff! :)
ReplyDeleteHihi! I just found your blog today. I'm really enjoying it! : ]
ReplyDeletei just bought a generic palette from Ross too! I was so surprised, I didn't even know they carried beauty products at all! I got an 88 color eyeshadow palette. I really like mine too, it's different from yours though, and some of the colors are repeated a couple times, but I still like them, they go on pretty well. The only thing though is they smell!! Really, really perfumey, I almost can't take the smell, but I tolerate it anyways bc i like the shadows so much :P
ReplyDeleteI agree with you! Good makeup does not have to be expensive.. I love palettes. All my eyeshadows are pretty much in palettes haha. The colors is this one are gorgeous! :) Aw you don't get my blog updates :( its okay.. I will have to try to visit your blog more often!
ReplyDeleteWow the palettte looks so pretty! I love the variety of color it offers...And the case is really cute as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Ectini!
ReplyDeleteI think you sent me a friend invite and I may have accidently declined. I'm sorry. I don't know what happened, nor can I send you a friend request. If you'd like, you can try again and I'll make sure I don't scre it up this time. :P
Anyhoodles, I have the Sephora CPP II as well and I was extremely disappointed with it. The mattes are chalky! I wish I'd gotten something else instead but I'm okay with it since I get to experiment with more shades. I'm really surprised that your Ross palette is THAT much better than the pricey CPP II. Great find!
What a great find! =) Love the color swatches.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep a look out for beauty products next time I'm in Ross now. ^^ Everything looks so pigmented and the blushes are so pretty! So many nice lip colors too.
ReplyDeleteNice pigmentation! I saw this palette at Ross! I don't care for lip palettes either so I didn't even consider getting it. :( Oh! But I just recently bought some makeup from Lumiere and Audrey Nicole so I'll have to post swatches soon. ;)
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a post, you sure put a lot of time into making this one. What GREAT swatches! ^__^
ReplyDeleteI finally posted the "one lovely blog award" you gave me in the very begining of this year. xD LOL && I also nominated you for two more awards! :)
I love the pink faux alligator/crocodile skin! Such pretty pigmented shadows! :D
ReplyDeletehahaha, oh well trust me, I am not as in shape as I may see. MY legs are all flabby :( I cannot stand them (especially when I think back to highschool when I played sports year round and was toned) BUT my only problem, I'm so damn lazy -___- LOL
ReplyDeleteoo oo! i love ross :) i just have to put aside an entire day to go.. you need to take your time through the endless racks hahaha :) i never bought beauty products from there, thanks for the reference :)
ReplyDeleteand no i haven't decided on a tablet yet :( i did download photoshop though and trying to draw with a mouse is beyond frustrating! hopefully i'll get one soon. i'm trying to tint my car windows next week tho so that's basically my tablet money being spent :/ maybe i can convince the boyfriend to buy me one 0:)
school starts monday! i hope i survive my first week too :(
<3jimin
Those are def pretty.. how much were they? I wish we had a Ross in Canada! We have a Winners but it kinda sucks a lot of ass. Lol.
ReplyDeleteI don't use lip palettes either... If I'm going out, I want to be able to carry my lip color out with me.
OoOoh...I love row 8 & the lippie's :)
ReplyDeletewow a makeup palette from ross with good pigmentation. i wnder if my ross has it i'm def. going to check it out :)
ReplyDeletenice! I do find that the sephora palette is not very pigmented, I'm kind of disipointed for that -_- but these ones do look very good!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very cute palette! How sweet of your mom. :D
ReplyDeleteRoss's huh?! LOL it is pretty decent payoff! :) Lucky everytime I see MU at Ross's it's always cracked! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThanks for ALL these swatchies! It's so much! LOL!
Some palettes are super pigmented! But sometimes when you start to blend it looks muddy :( But the palette has super cute packaging! ^_^
