NYX round lipstick review

Another overdue review lol. Picked up 3 NYX round lipstick's at DonKi (Don Quijote) in Oahu for only 99 cents yay :D Gave two to my mom and kept one in "Pecan Pie." I lovelovelove NYX lipstick (and I am NOT a lipstick user). However, I haven't even attempted to order lipstick from their website since their swatches are NOTHING like the actual color :/ I got B52 for my mom online and the color looks absolutely nothing like the swatch blehhh.

NYX Round Lipstick

Price (online): $3.50

What they say: This is a velvet textured lip cream that covers with rich colors while moisturizing your lips with each application.

Ingredients: Ceresin Wax, Polyethlene Wax, Microcrystalline Wax, Beeswax, Lanoline Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Mineral Oils, Octyl Palmitate, BHA, Propyl Paraben, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, D&C Red No.A1 Lake, Pearl Powder, Iron Oxide.

The good stuff:
  • Relatively inexpensive
  • Smooth and moisturizing NOT sticky
  • Glides on effortlessly
  • Doesn't dry out my lips
  • Rich, pigmented shades
  • Pretty long-lasting
  • Cruelty free

The low-down:

  • I doubt I'll ever find them for 99 cents again! :(
  • Did settle into my lip lines a bit.

My take: The Pecan Pie shade does this LOVELY nude lip for me... I just LOVE it :D And it goes well with my hair color now lol. Like I mentioned all the good points, I barely have anything bad to say about their lipstick besides that it did settle into my lip lines after a few hours and didn't last all day, but a relatively long time without becoming dry. The color is so rich that I use my Avon rollerball gloss over it to tone it down a bit... makes it the perfect shade. This lipstick is definitely worth it - if only NYX's swatches were more accurate!

Everyday nude lip
Base: EDM Natural lipgloss in Lemon Spice
Lipstick: NYX round lipstick in Pecan pie
Lipgloss: Avon Colortrend rollerball lipgloss in Watermelon

The best red potato salad :D

Just made this yesterday and it's super yummy and a good for summer dish. So I figured I'd share how to make it (: I'm not too keen on the actual amount of each ingredient I used since I made a big batch and just eyeballed the amounts... sorry if you're one of those precise measuring people! :P

What you need:

(as much as you want to use!)

- Cooked and cubed red skin potatoes
- Finely chopped green onion
- Finely chopped round onion
- Bacon, crisped and crumbled (or toast some bacon bits)
- Mayonnaise
- Salt and pepper to taste

What to do:

Just mix all the ingredients together and enjoy! Trust me, it's delicious (:

Smashbox HD Healthy FX Foundation review

I got this as one of my samples from Ulta and figured I'd try it out. It's my first experience with Hi-def makeup and I'd have to say that I'm really not that impressed lol -_-;; Not in bad ways though, just not in mind-blowing this-stuff-is-the-ish ways. Anyways, I'm still up for trying MUFE's HD foundation since I've heard some good stuff about that (I wanna try Dior's Diorskin foundation too... anyone like it?). I'm really not all that into liquid foundation (my skin is mineral-spoiled) but I figure I might as well try and mix up the routine now and then.

Ingredients: ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: 5.0% Octinoxate (2-Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate), 3.2% Titanium Dioxide. INGREDIENTS: Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isododecane, Butylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-18/18 Dimethicone, Dimethicone, Polysilicone-11, Dimethylacrylamide/Acrylic Acid/Polystyrene Ethyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Hexyl Laurate, Polyglyceryl-4-Isostearate, Dimethicone/Divinyl Dimethicone/Silsesquioxane Crosspolymer, Caprylyl Glycol, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Quaternium-18 Hectorite, Lecithin, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Phenoxyethanol, Ribose, Sodium Chloride, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Propylene Glycol Stearate, Alumina, Propylene Carbonate, Disodium EDTA, Polysorbate 20, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Sorbitan Laurate, Propylene Glycol Laurate, Ascorbyl Palmitate. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides.... Whooo check out that extensive listing X_x

The good stuff:
  • Lots of shades to choose from
  • Smooth, lightweight formula
  • Easy to apply, glides on like lotion
  • Absorbs fairly quickly
  • Not cakey, oily, or sticky
  • More of a semi-matte finish IMO
  • Smells like... brown sugar to me. Idk lol it just does.
  • Buildable coverage with spf 15
  • Long-wearing

The low-down:

  • Expensive
  • Not as much of a dewy finish as I'd like
  • Made me look kind of orange in natural light
  • It's nothing really special IMO :/

My take: Like I mentioned, I wasn't too impressed with this foundation. It boasts skin-healthy ingredients and great on-camera performance, but I didn't really see much difference from my regular EDM pressed powder. It photographs the same. It does go on smoothly and blends well and can be built up for more coverage but it still didn't cover my freckles (not a bad thing though). It smells nice (might be too much for some people), glides on, moisturizes, and protects but it had more of a matte finish IMO and I'm more partial to a dewy finish, which even my pressed powder does a better job of. It's NOT cakey though, just looks matte. Might have been because I used my BB cream as a primer before application.

However, I did like that it lasted all day and did not smear the eyemakeup around the bottom of my eye which usually happens to me even with powder. It did a good job of masking my undereye circles but inevitably by the end of the day, my puffiness returned -_-;; Anyways, I don't think I really would spend $38 on this but it still is a good foundation, but again, nothing super special.

Sheer but buildable coverage:

You can still see my freckles.

Performs on-camera the same way my EDM pressed powder does.

The Body Shop lipbalm review

I've put this review off for quite some time lol... I got 2 lip balms from The Body Shop when I went to Oahu since I tried it once and I really liked it. These are on the top of my list of favorite lipgloss/balms.

Price: $8 (available at http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/)

Product description: Best if you want to - Add moisture and gloss while leaving lips soft and smooth with the delicious, fruity taste of pink guava. Best for - all skin types. How it works - Community Trade organic beeswax from Zambia helps moisturize and condition lips. Lanolin, one of nature's richest moisturizers, is readily absorbed by the skin. Community Trade organic beeswax moisturizes and conditions lips, while acting as a barrier that helps seal in moisture.

Ingredients: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Lanolin, Polyglyceryl-3 Beeswax, Flavor, Beeswax, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Silica, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil, Ammonium Glycyrrhizate, Psidium Guajava (Guava) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol, Titanium Dioxide, Red 21 Lake, Yellow 5 Lake, Red 7 Lake.

The good stuff :)

  • Smells great!
  • Super moisturizing and hydrating
  • Goes on smooth and keeps lips soft
  • Super sheer soft pink tint with lots of shine

The low-down :(

  • A bit pricey for the amount :(

My take: I love everything about this lip balm. The smell, the feel, the appearance, everything! I use it at night mainly to keep my lips hydrated.

Price: $8 (available at http://www.thebodyshop-usa.com/)

Product description: A hint of shimmer and a splash of zest for a can't-resist pout. With Community Trade beeswax from Zambia.

The good stuff :)

  • Summery sweet tangerine-citrus scent

The low-down :(

  • None besides the price.
My take: I feel the same way about this one as the Guava one. Love it and it looks/smells great! I love The Body Shop lipbalms for their natural and eco-friendly ingredients and just the fact that they work so well. I just wish it wasn't $8 per tiny tub :( Sorry I have no swatches!

NOTD + Avon review, etc.

So, my Avon haul came in a few days ago... I got a nailpolish, a lipgloss, and I was supposed to get a dual sided liner/shadow brush but it was not available :( Anyways, here's my take on their nail polish:

I got it in "Classic rose." It's a nice baby pink color.

It's very glossy, shiny, and subtly bold. I like Avon's polish because it goes on smoothly, dries pretty quickly (I have major probs with polish drying slowly and tacky) and doesn't get dull or chip easily. I'm planning on getting more of their polish soon! I wish I was pro at nail art like Nikki from Askmewhat's :( lol. She is Queen of nail art :D I can barely manage to paint my nails on my right hand using my left -_-;; I am NOT ambidextrous, apparently xD

I also got one of their Colortrend rollerball lipglosses in watermelon. All of this stuff was on sale so it was cheap :D It smells super sweet like candy and tastes good too (:

There is pretty much no color or sparkle and it goes on sheer and clear. It's not sticky at all (kind of hydrating actually) and doesn't dry out my lips. It gives off nice shine and lasts relatively long.

And that was all I really had to review for today. So I'll leave with some pics of Muffin...

...Do you remember me?
I'm a big kitten now. I'm FAT.

I'm also vicious and NOT cuddly at all unless I'm tired. Which I was in this picture but I don't look like it huh. Mommy has to hold me super tight so I don't claw her face. Which I've done two times already! :D

I like to bite mommy and daddy and everyone else. I still climb legs, chairs, screen doors, you name it. I'm a pro at climbing (and looking innocent while doing it). And now I'm tired. I'm also expert at sleeping. Which is what I'm going to do now. Bye!

Haha okay enough from fat cat. On another note, I've lost enough weight to finally perfectly fit that skirt I got from Oahu :D It was a bit too snug before. Thank you Wii fit! lol. I've dropped ~5 lbs. since I graduated ^_^ Excuse teh dirty mirror lol.

Kona flowers

Okay, so I forget if I mentioned that I went to Kona for father's day but anyways I took the opportunity to bust out the camera for some photos since I haven't touched it for awhile ;A; So I took pictures from my grandma's garden... she grows such amazing and beautiful flowers!

I talked about this flower before but this is a fireball protea that I brought back to Hawaii from Maui when I was little. It was this itty bitty little plant and now it is a huge tree/bush! And it's blooming!

This one's not opened yet.

This one's getting there.

Little orchids.

Idk what these are called, but they are pretty.

These are the same kind as the purple ones.

Scary bee.

Idk what this is either, but it's the size of my face. Lol.
