Review: Simple Cleansing Facial Wipes

I've been using these makeup removing wipes for awhile now, ever since I stopped using my usual Epielle Face wipes. I used to LOVE those for the variety they had, the price, and how well they worked. But after awhile I felt like they just weren't doing the job like they used to :( So on a whim I decided to try out the Simple skin care brand since I'd seen a few commercials and ads and I was attracted to the all-natural and essentials-only philosophy.
Price: $4.97 from Walmart

What they say:
Our Cleansing Facial Wipes refresh and nourish your skin plus remove waterproof mascara. Our wipes contain a perfect blend of our purest possible skin loving ingredients with an added vitamin.

SIMPLE GOODNESS
  • 1 ADDED VITAMIN: PRO-VITAMIN B5 known to help restore, soften and smooth
  • NO ALCOHOL, NO OIL
  • NON DRYING and NO GREASY residue
  • NO DYES
  • NO ARTIFICIAL PERFUMES
  • NO HARSH IRRITANTS to upset skin
  • Dermatologist tested
  • Ophthalmologist tested
  • Safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Noncomedogenic
  • 25 wipes
What's in it: Water (Aqua, Eau), Cetearyl Isononanoate, Panthenol, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth-20, Ceteareth-12, Sodium Citrate, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1,3-Diol, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

The good stuff:
  • Inexpensive
  • Removes all traces of makeup
  • Gentle on skin
  • Does not irritate my eyes at all, even with contacts
  • Leaves skin feeling refreshed and clean
The low-down:
  • Nothing I can think of!
My take: I completely ADORE these cleansing facial wipes. The sheets are much larger than the Epielle wipes I used to use, so one sheet is more than sufficient to remove all my makeup. It even removes waterproof makeup and lash glue without having to harshly scrub it off. I also feel like these wipes leave me skin feeling really refreshed and clean, without leaving behind any kind of film or stickiness. In addition to it's superb makeup-removing properties, it also DOES NOT irritate my eyes and make them itchy, burn, or water like some other makeup removers have done for me. Even when I have contacts in, these wipes do not bother my eyes at all and are totally gentle on skin!

Would I repurchase/recommend?: YES! I have been repurchasing these wipes for the past few months now and I still LOVE them! I would recommend these to anyone looking for a makeup removing wipe that completely removes all traces of makeup while being gentle and refreshing on skin!

The Rundown:

Packaging: 5/5
Resealable packaging keeps wipes moist without making the ones on the bottom over-saturated with makeup remover.

Product: 5/5
Excellent! Removes all traces of my makeup and feels extra gentle on skin. Does not irritate my eyes at all and feels refreshing.

Price: 5/5
Wallet-friendly!

Jeans Warehouse Mini Haul + NOTD feat. ELF "Lilac"

Hello loves! Just wanted to share some things I recently bought from Jeans Warehouse.

I found this cute pair of flats (of course, the only size 5 ANYTHING they had :P), for only $9.99! I'm always on the lookout for nice flats so I was happy to find these. I actually wanted white ones but they didn't have my size -_-;

And I was also really surprised to find these! Beauty Treats makeup remover cleansing tissues! They sounded really good after reading Stacey's review, but we never have anything good like on the mainland, so I wasn't expecting to find them here! Or maybe they have been here a really long time lol, I just haven't been in Jeans Warehouse in FOREVER :P

I got Apricot because the SA I asked said Geen tea and Aricot were popular, and not many people bought the "Rose" scent. They were $2.99 each. I really like the scent, and the tissues are soft and work great at removing makeup! Does not sting my eyes either, which is a MUST for me in a cosmetic wipe. They don't quite beat out my all-time favorite Epielle Wipes, but they're a close second : )

On another note, my mom got me this gigantic, warm, cozy robe. Because she knows I adore leopard print :3 It's the freaking warmest thing ever, which is really good because when it gets cold here, it gets COLD. So I've been pretty much wearing this around the house all day :P

NOTD

Here's what ELF's "Lilac" looks like. I honestly wish it was a little lighter and more pastel, but it's still nice I guess. This is 3 coats. The finish is nice and glossy. For whatever reason though, this one chipped alot easier than any of my other ELF polishes and took longer to dry.

DHC Make Off Sheets review

Price:
$5.50 for the 50 sheet refill pack

What they say: A clean sweep. Make Off Sheet does it all. Made from 100% natural cotton, each aloe-infused sheet removes impurities, helps maintain skin’s natural pH level, and deposits moisture. Use this cleansing cloth when you’re away from home and on those occasions when you can’t perform your regular routine. Comes in a lightweight, flip-top box, so you can take it on the road and to the gym.

What to do: Gently wipe face with sheet until dirt and makeup are removed. Press 5–10 seconds to remove mascara and heavier makeup.

What's in it: water/eau, butylene, glycol, sodium cocoamphoacetate, hexylene glycol, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, methylparaben, citric acid, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, chamomilla recutita (matricaria) flower extract, panax ginseng root extract, etidronic acid

The good stuff:

  • Relatively inexpensive
  • Effectively & gently removes makeup
  • Does not sting eyes
  • Leaves skin feeling clean & refreshed
  • No residue

The low-down:

  • The sheet is kinda small
  • Strong scent

My take: I love these! I've been using Kirkland makeup remover wipes which do the job well (will review soon) but I like these a whole lot better! If only I didn't have to always order them online. I got the refill pack since it's cheaper than the $7.50 one with the same amount of sheets, you're just paying for the case. The refill pack reseals and works fine for me.

THe sheets are kinda small, around half the size of a normal makeup removing wipe -- but still big enough to take off all makeup. They aren't quilted or cushy but they are gentle and very effective at removing makeup. The great part is that it leaves no residue after use and makes my skin feeling very refreshed, clean, and toned. The only thing is that there is a strong scent... I don't want to say "alcohol" scent but it is strong and not too pleasant. You get used to it after awhile though. The great thing is that it is not harsh on the skin and it does NOT sting my eyes at all.

Would I repurchase: Yes!

Neutrogena makeup remover cleansing towelettes review

Price: $2.29 for 7 pack from drugstore.com

What they say: Ultra soft cloths Gently dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up Even Waterproof Mascara Gentle, ultra soft cloths offer you superior cleansing and make-up removal. Gently and effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up Patent pending technology is so effective it easily removes waterproof mascara. Leaves skin thoroughly clean with no heavy residue, so there's no need to rinse. Use daily for clean, fresh, make-up free skin in 1 easy step. Gentle enough to use around sensitive eye area, even for contact lens wearers Ophthalmologist tested Dermatologist tested Allergy tested Alcohol free

Cloths measure: 7.4" x 7.2" (19 x 18.5 cm)

What to do: Gently wipe face with towelette, removing dirt and all traces of face and eye makeup. There is no need to rinse. Dispose of the towelette in trash receptacle (do not flush). After removing towelette, reseal pack.

What's in it: Water, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Isostearyl Palmitate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Isononyl Isononanoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Hexylene Glycol, PEG 4 Laurate, PEG 6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Sucrose Cocoate, Carbomer, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Fragrance

The good stuff:
  • Super soft texture
  • Effective at removing makeup
  • Did not burn eyes
The low-down:
  • Left an oily residue
  • Kinda pricey... I've used better for cheaper

My take: I really wanted to love these, but sadly, I was disappointed :( While they do a good job at removing makeup and I like the soft, gentle cloth . . . they leave behind an oily residue and I HATE that in a makeup removing wipe. Check out the bolded section in the product description. Key words: NO HEAVY RESIDUE. But there is still a residue, and I had to wash my face after. I'm glad I only got the 7 pack to test it out! I've definitely used better for a fraction of the price of the full pack. For example, I really like Epielle cleansing wipes (review here), which have like 30 per pack for only $2 AND they worked just as well at removing makeup, smelled good, and did not leave any residue. I find these similar to the Clean N Clear wipes (see previous link)... a no-go for me :(

Would I repurchase: No.

Long overdue cosmetic wipes reviews

First off, I'd just like to say thank you everyone who has given me congratulations on my graduation! :D It's so nice of all of you (: I've been able to sleep in super late and just enjoy my days free of school, ignorant people, and any form of work (for now).

Anyways, I figured it's about time to do my long overdue cosmetic wipes reviews... so here's the lineup I've tested lately:

Equate Facial Cleansing Towelletes

Pros: Inexpensive, thick/quilted texture, soft scent, hygenic packaging, effectively removes makeup, doesn't sting eyes.

Cons: the bottom towellets become very saturated with m/u remover over time.

What I thought about it: These makeup removing towelletes are one of the best and cheapest I've ever used. The quilted texture is soft and the towelletes are thick enough to effectively remove most makeup with minimal scrubbing. There is no heavy scent (but there is a scent). They come in a handy pop-top container and resealable packaging too. The only thing I'd have to say as for complaints is that over time, the towelletes at the bottom of the package become very saturated with the makeup remover, which is not a good feeling for your face :P

Epielle Cucumber Cleansing Tissues

Pros:
Smells GREAT! Effectively removes makeup, inexpensive, doesn't sting eyes, thin, soft texture, cucumber, vitamin E, alo.

Cons: None!

What I thought about it: These are by far my current favorite makeup removing wipes. They smell delicious (not kidding!). If you've ever had Fruit Go candy... the melon flavor; that's exactly what these smell like! Mmmm (; Hehe. Despite being very thin, they effectively remove most makeup without stinging my eyes. And for only $1.99, these were a steal :D

Eyeko Face Off Wipes

Pros: effectively removes makeup, cute individual packages.

Cons: not that cheap, wipes become a bit dry after opening, alcohol scent.

What I thought about it: So, these definitely take the cake for cute, travel-friendly packages. However, for more than $8 for 20 (have to order online), I wouldn't go out of my way to buy more than the samples I received. They work pretty well at removing makeup, however, they do become a bit dry and work less well once exposed to the air for a few minutes. They also have this alcohol scent... like hand sanitizing wipes. They do contain Vitamin E and aloe though, so that's a plus. Overall, these aren't the greatest.

Clean & Clear Makeup Dissolving Facial Cleansing Wipes

Pros: effectively removes makeup, thick, soft texture.

Cons: leaves a slight oily residue, stings a bit, soft scent.

What I thought about it: I got a sample pack of these from Seventeen (took forever to come in). And I'd have to say that I'm not impressed. I have never been a fan of Clean and Clear's products, and this is no exception. It says it is Oil-Free but it left a distinct oily residue on my face and hands after I used the wipes. They do effectively work at removing makeup though (stung the area around my eyes a bit), but they do have some kind of soft scent that I can't really put my finger on if it's good or bad :/

EDM cosmetic wipes review

Although I usually rave about Everyday Mineral's products, their cosmetic wipes just didn't cut it for me. I bought them a couple months ago and only used them a few times. I was definately not satisfied with the product. Here's what their website had to say about it:

"With the calming fusion of lavender and grapefruit, these all-natural wet wipes can be used as a make-up remover or quick all over cleanser to freshen up your face. Its resealable opening makes it perfect for travel or every day use on-the-go!"

So okay, I'll admit that the package reseals nicely, the wipes smell good enough, and they CAN be used as a makeup remover, however, they don't do their main function very well. The wipes are quite saturated with makeup remover and despite this, they don't remove makeup very well. I had to literally scrub my eyes with it to get only a little eyemakeup off. This resulted in my eyes burning and watering :( Although the wipes are pretty refreshing (like toner) on your skin, having to scrub your eyeshadow off (and it doesn't even come off all the way) isn't something I'd want to be doing every day. But for only $2.50, it wasn't really a waste. It can be used to take off foundation rather easily, the only problem is eyeshadow and liner. I'm still in search for the perfect makeup remover, and I would definately not buy this again.
