Queen Helene Oatmeal 'n Honey Natural Facial Scrub review

Price: $3.69 from drugstore.com
What they say: Original Formula! A gentle cleansing natural-fiber facial scrub with soothing oatmeal and honey. The extra gentle exfoliating action draws out impurities, unclogs pores and removes dry, dead cells from the surface of your skin. Pure, wholesome honey helps replenish lost moisture and protects our skin from the harsh elements. Your skin will look fresh and healthy and feel soft and smooth. Apply daily or as often as desired. Ideal for use in the shower, too!

What to do: Moisten face and neck with warm water. Apply a small amount of facial scrub with wet fingertips and gently massage into skin, avoiding the sensitive areas near your eyes. Rinse well with warm water and pat dry.

What's in it: Water (Aqua), Juglans Regia (Walnut) Shell Powder, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Stearic Acid, Avena Sativa (Oat) Kernel Meal, Honey, Glyceryl Stearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Kaolin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Isopropyl Myristate, Dimethicone, Triethanolamine, Fragrance (Parfum), Carbomer, Propylene Glycol, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Phenoxyethanol

The good stuff:
  • Inexpensive
  • Lots of product
  • A little goes a long way
  • Smells super yummy!
  • Gently exfoliates
  • Leaves skin feeling smooth and soft
  • Improves skin tone/texture

The low-down:

  • Idk about the "remove impurities" and "unclog pores" claims
  • You have to unscrew the top

My take: I really like this scrub! The best part is that it smells delicious, like some kind of dessert pastry. Yum! For the price, it is an excellent scrub that makes skin smooth, soft and glowy. I'd get similar results with other cleansers such as Neutrogena Deep Clean gentle scrub or St. Ive's apricot scrub, but at a fraction of the price and with lots more product! I'm a bit hesitant to agree with the big claims of "drawing out impurities" and "unclogging pores." Although this product did not break me out, it didn't seem to really improve any existing breakouts either. The only thing I dislike with Queen Helene products is that I wish the cap was a flip-cap instead of having to unscrew it.

Would I repurchase: Yes.

  1. I love Queen Helene. The brand is affordable and it works [most of the time]! I've been trying to find this scrub for the longest time but didn't think about looking for it online.

Thanks for reviewing this product as well as the cocoa butter facial and for posting the link to the site you bought it from. =]

  2. Nice review, think I will give that a try soon as I run out of my St. Ives scrub. I have some shampoo and conditioner that is Oatmeal and Honey and it smells so yummy... Honestly just seeing Oatmeal and Honey on the label makes me want to buy it before I read the good things.

  6. Hey sweetie!

Great review on the scrub! I'm always a little weary about what they write on the bottle. I find shampoo/conditioners the worst when it comes to claiming about what it can do.

I personally love scrubs with a more fine sand texture rather than giant chunks (like sugar scrubs) or worse microscrubs (where you don't feel a damn thing). My favourite so far is the Mac Microfine Refinisher, it's super expensive though :*( at around $32CAD over here but you get a ton of product and I love how its JUST a scrub which means you can mix it into your cleanser/mask, whatever you like!

  7. WOW! I always find myself rubbing honey on my face! And making oatmeal masks/scrubs are so time consuming!

With this, I can have both. thanks for your review~

  12. I have never heard of this brand before! You sold me when you said that the product smelled like a pastry. LOL!

I hate products where you have to screw the top off! How annoying! Other than that, the stuff sounds great!

  14. *mmm* oatmeal and honey. I might end up eating it before it gets used. hahaha! ;P

about the tat - whatever you do, just dont get someones name tattooed on you! unless its your child or something.. or your husband. haha! there was this girl i knew back when i was younger. she was crazy about my brother even though my brother wanted nothing to do with her. So crazy about him that she got his initial tattooed on her. "J" ... later on it finally sank in that he doesn't like her at all so every guy she liked after that, she made sure his name started with a J. hahaha!

  15. Mmhmm! I love Honey! This sounds like something I want to try! I've seen this brand, but I have no idea where I can buy this locally! That's great that this product improves skin tone/texture! Do you think they sell this at walgreens? :)

Revlon Photo Ready foundation is pretty good! I like it a lot! But the bad thing was that when I went to CVS to pick it up, they sold out of a lot of the light shades, there were only like 4 bottles left!
