Neutrogena hits & misses

Hello loves & thank you new followers! ♥
Some clarification from my recent reviews:
  • The Queen Helene Grape Seed Extract Masque did not really seem to draw out any impurities; black/white heads, etc. It did not seem to help with pimples, but it did not make them worse either. Just made my skin smoother.
  • I also don't think the Queene Helene Mud Pack Masque would help with removing black/whiteheads. It seemed to help with drying out pimples though, but didn't make them really "better" or worse. Still makes skin look/feel lovely though!
  • As far as I know, you have to use Neutrogena's pads with the Wave. They have the original deep clean foaming pads, shine free blemish free pads, and gentle exfoliating pads. I think it's $6-8, depending on where you buy it.
Inspired by my recent ELF product reccommendations post & Mai from a .maitai a day asking me about my Neutrogena HGs, here's a list of the stuff I loved & the stuff I was less than fond of.

- - - - - - - - - LOVE IT!

Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub
I love this scrub. Leaves skin feeling clean, smooth, and glowing.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-wrinkle cream spf 15
Worked wonders for me at improving complexion & skin tone. Made my skin brighter, clearer, soft & smooth. Great results for only $13.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-wrinkle Anti-blemish scrub
Worked similarly to the Deep Clean Gentle scrub. The Mister used it too and it seemed to help with improving skintone / fading spots.

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Daily Deep Conditioner
When my hair was dry, these products were its savior. Delivers deep moisture, smells great, leaves hair soft, shiny, and tangle-free.

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-in Conditioner
Used to use this before flat ironing my hair. As mentioned above, leaves hair soft, shiny, and smooth.

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Acne Mark Fading Peel
I bought this for the Mister because he has post-acne marks he wanted to get rid of. It's pricy (~$20) but it does work. You have to use it regularly though and it gradually fades blemishes.

- - - - - - - - - IT'S OKAY . . .

Neutrogena Healthy Skin VisiblyEven Cleanser
This is an okay cleanser. It gently exfoliates and leaves skin smooth and clean, but it didn't really seem to improve my complexion noticably.

Neutrogena Rapid Clear Acne Eliminating Spot Gel
This stuff only works for me when it wants to. I can't say it's horrible because the first day I bought it, it got rid of my pimples overnight. However after that, the results haven't been consistent. Sometimes it even makes them worse :(

Neutrogena Wave
I think this is an okay product. It leaves my skin looking/feeling nice but the menthol in the pads is too harsh for my skin and the refills are pricey.

Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser
This is an okay cleanser. It dries out pimples but doesn't seem to make them better (or worse) nor does it seem to prevent pimples. It's super gentle though.

- - - - - - - - - LEAVE IT!

Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser
This is supposed to remove makeup and foam. It does not foam and it did not remove my makeup very well; just smudged it around.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Scrub
This scrub contains menthol and it is too strong for me. It dried out my skin. If you aren't sensitive to menthol & like extreme cooling sensation, you'll probably like this. It doesn't contain any acne medication though.

Neutrogena Makeup remover Cleansing towelettes
I like that these cloths are super soft and thick and remove makeup well, but I cannot stand the oily residue they leave behind.

What are YOUR Neutrogena hits & misses?

  3. I have sensitive skin, it's currently in RIP mode what w/ all the breakouts and junk I LOVE the Neutrogena Deep Clean Invigorating Scrub I've never had anything like that face cleaner I have tried tons of different products in the same area of the store but nothing gets my skin feeling as clean as that scrub, the only reason I don't buy is is because it's expensive it costs like 7 dollars for a 4.2-Ounce Tube lol.

I wanted to try that Neutrogena Wave thingy but I'm not going to waste my money on it if it's just "okay" great review girl, I love how you do tons of reviews in one blog post!

  4. I'm actually boycotting Neutrogene after a horrible experience with their microdermabrasion kit and trying out a bunch of their ineffective acne products. ^^;;

  5. Well, for one thing, none of their acne products ever worked for me. They just dried me up which only flared up the acne even more.

Their dry-touch sunscreen is a p.o.c. It breaks me out, feels filmy and chalky in spite of its "silky" texture, and balls up on my skin. It also made my eyes go red and teary, even when I didn't apply it anywhere near my eyes.

Oh and the deal-breaker was their microdermabrasion kit. Instead of fading scars from previous breakouts, it made me break out into huge painful cystic acne all over in places where I never had pimples before. The scars took forever to disappear, adding to previous scars it failed to fade. It made me want to cry and hide forever. I looked like I had some kind of disease. I later found out from other reviews that people were going through the same thing, even people who hadn't had acne in years. Not wanting to waste a perfectly usable scrubber, I later tried to use it for an aspirin mask. Even after I changed batteries, the thing stopped working. Such a waste of money.

So, yea, I don't go anywhere near Neutrogena. I'm glad you're having a better experience with them, though. I guess they're just not meant for my skin type.
